OVERVIEW

Arts Collaborative is offering a six-week program passing on our knowledge to the next generation. We are exciting to start building relationships and strengthening the Coast Salish Culture. that introduces Coast Salish Culture, Carving, Weaving, and Painting.

The students will be participating in Story Telling and Cedar Weaving with Dave Bodaly. Each student will weave a two-strand rope, two-strand bracelet, and a head band. Depending on the skill level of students.

The students will also be participating in Story Telling, Cedar Carving, and Painting with Beau Wagner. Beau Wagner will rough out paddle clappers, medallions, and small canoes that will be finished and painted by each student. Depending on the skill level of students.

The Objective

Learning traditional Snuneymuxw teachings and Hulquminum language
Creating with, and becoming familiar with red and yellow cedar
Working on basic dexterity and art skills

The Opportunity

Hearing traditional Coast Salish stories, and walking the land
Weaving red cedar bark into traditional bracelets, and head bands
Sanding, and Painting red and yellow cedar
